Matt Krupnick is a Chicago-based journalist specializing in inequity/inequality, education, investigative work, data journalism and the environment.
His work has been published by ProPublica, The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post and the Hechinger Report, among other national and international publications, and he has produced the “Future U” podcast. He was a reporter with the Center for Public Integrity's State Integrity Investigation and is a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors and the Education Writers Association.
He reported regularly from Mexico while living in Oaxaca and is a board member with the Chicago Headline Club, the nation’s largest chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
In 2020, he was named best beat reporter by the Education Writers Association, and in 2021 he completed a certificate for data visualization from the UC Berkeley Advanced Media Institute.
